Mala Magic

I'd like to introduce you to sOMe of my Malas and all their healing benefits...

a Mala, which means garland in sanskrit, is a set of beads, traditionally used to focus awareness during meditation. In some types of meditation, like japa meditation where the practitioner recites a mantra, the mala beads are used as a tool to count the number of repetitions of the mantra being recited.

Malas are made of various materials including wood, seeds, crystals. a mala has 108 beads with a sumeru or guru bead. A round of chanting begins with the bead next to the guru bead and is completed when one reaches the guru bead again. Using a mala during meditation empowers it with calmness, energy from the mantra, then wearing the mala throughout the day carries the energy of the mantra and meditation into your life.

Rudrakska Mala
Rudraksha is derived from two words RUDRA and AKSHA, Rudra meaning Lord Shiva and Aksha meaning tears in Sanskrit.
A legend says Lord Shiva was meditating for many years, when one day he opened his eyes to look down on earth, at this point out of compassion several tears fell down and grew to become Rudraksha trees. The Rudraksha is the most auspicious and energized bead, which Lord Shiva has given for the benefit of mankind..

A Rudraksha bead can have several faces or Mukhi

Five Mukhi...This bead has several uses. It helps achieve success in all walks of life and gain knowledge, wealth, power, fame and achieve goals. It is also very often used in the cure of several diseases ~ mental peace, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac problems, diseases of ears, thighs, and kidneys. It is a very sought after bead that can actually help you attain happiness and eternal bliss. Most common of rudrakska and said to control the 5 elements, earth, water, fire, air, ether/spirit

Mantra ~ Om Namah Shivaya

these 3 malas shown here are 5 Mukhi and either rose quartz and or pearl.

here's what the crystals mean for you....

Pearl... Symbolises purity and stimulates the mind for clarity and wisdom. Enhances personal integrity, focus one’s attention and is said to increase fertility and ease childbirth. Increases physical vitality

Rose Quartz… serves to open the heart, heals emotional wounds or broken hearts or allows you to bathe in the light of the heart. increases creativity. considered the Love stone and beneficial for the circulatory system

these make wonderful presents to your self or a loved one - email me to find out more or to purchase a beautiful mala...

The Stance of a Divine Warrior - Virabhadrasana

Satya, Hafiz & Warriorship ~ how do they connect?

As i started to explore the theme for this weeks class it took on it's own path.

It started with a quote that inspired me

"exercise your hearts knowing" ~ Hafiz

and I started to explore, knowing my heart, my mission, my truth and embracing it all....

"Satya" meaning truthfulness, one of the yamas frOM Pantajali's Eight Limbs of Yoga. Truth invites you to rest in the truth of who you are, to be authentic to your inner nature with integrity and wholeHEARTed honesty.

Truth is an unfolding process that deepens as your wisdOM increases. As you delve DEEPer into your Yoga prACTice, you simultaneously delve deeper into you... When you live your life and flow frOM within truthFULLy, you are honouring your Divine nature and expressing it. This may be hard or challenging at first; part of being truthful with yourself is honestly acknowledging the places and areas in your life that you need to grow or tot let go of. It also means to exercise your inner knowing, your truth, frOM your heart. We all have areas to work on and life challenges us to remain genuine and be true to yourself and this invokes courage.

So this week in yoga classes  as we explore Satya, we will also explore Virabhadrasana ~ the warrior postures. Virabhadra, is a warrior, who destroys to save… he is also the son of Shiva, both are transformers, the destroy to transform.

Through your yoga prACTice you meet yourself again and again on the mat and often prACTice warrior postures no doubt, yet allow them to teach you... The key to warriorship is to rest in the truth of who you are and not be afraid of who you are. let the prACTice destroy your doubts and cOMe into the truth of who you really are…. Virabhadra reminds you to cut off/destroy the ego and humble yourself, to transform.

As we flow in the warrior vinyasas, they may challenge you to explore and go deeper into the centre of your BEing; allow yourself cultivate the stance of a Divine warrior, and embody the mind of a warrior and go into battle unattached to the fruits of your actions.

Virabhadrasana teaches you not to be pulled in all directions and to go into the field of life, residing in your centre of YOUr BEing speaking and revealing your truth .

Can you cultivate the mind of a warrior with a Divine mission exercising your hearts knowing?

I invite you to reNEW your strength, your vitality, your power in the Virabhadrasanas, as well as the courage to face life's challenging mOMents and truly embody the grounding, expansive internal power of a Divine warrior to reveal the truth of your mission…

Allow the Satya of Virabhadrasana to emPOWER you to conquer your doubts, your fears so you embrace the Divine warrior within and gracefully face whatever challenges stand in your way of truly BElieving in YOUrself!

Virabhradrasana -
  • powerful, enlivening, grounding, expansive
  • strengthens as it awakens your sense of your own Divine warrior on its mission.
  • requires physical strength yet its true power is internal - an invitation to rest in the truth of who you are, to fully and completely embody your divine essence and expand the body, mind and heart to evolve and grow and expand into your true nature fearlessly like a warrior.
  • the source of the power and growth is not from the any area in the body, like the strength of the legs and solidity of the foundation, but more the power and growth is the mind,
  • the conquering and victory over your doubts, your fears so you embrace the Divine warriorship and gracefully face whatever challenges stand in your way of truly BElieving in YOUrself!

Next time you are on your mats, I invite you to cOMe in Virabhadrasana 2 and as you align, pause, cOMe  into a full ujjayi breath and then close your eyes.... take away this sense and and truly see and feel the intensity of the asana, that's when your internal power ignites and the Divine Warrior is revealed..

I look forward to sharing more with you on your mats!

Om Namah Shivaya
